Turn Numerous Television Without Pity Review Pages into One Page

One day I got tired enough of clicking through 20+ page TWOP reviews, and decided to experiment with creating a tool that would collect all the pages in a given review, and assemble them into one clean page for easy printing.

So I went into the lab, and came up with a working program that does just this.

Now, I originally thought that TWOP made you click page to page instead of offering an all-in-one page because they placed different ads on each page of the review, but the ads are the same on every page. So I don’t feel like I’m cheating anyone here. Yet, I still click an ad before I run the review through my program – you should too.

To use it, simply find a review on TWOP, copy the URL, and paste in into the tool. If you find a review that doesn’t seem to work, please leave it in the comments section below so I can debug it. Any other comments are also appreciated. Now…

1-Page-i-fy That TWOP Review!

  1. I love this tool, it is fantastic! But recently I’ve noticed it has stopped working – I’ve tried to use it for a couple different TWOP review pages, and it always just comes up with a blank page… Not sure if there is a bug or something, but just wanted to bring it to attention. Thank you so much for creating this, it’s been so helpful and time-saving when reading the reviews!

  2. Thanks for the heads up Piper – seems TWOP has made some changes to their site, and I needed to tweak a few things. Seems to be working again, let me know if you have any more issues – cheers!

  3. So grateful for this today! With NBC preparing to shutter TWoP and its archives, I’m frantically gathering recaps of shows I haven’t watched but always meant to — and every word Jacob Clifton and Miss Alli ever wrote. Thank you!

  4. I’m having trouble getting this to work with the “Bunheads” reviews I’ve tried so far. I get an error message stating “There was an error fetching the pages.” They also don’t seem to be fetching in chronological order, but not sure if that’s common. I’m not even reaching a final page generating all the pages of a review, so I’m not able to evaluate that. For this episode, page 13 also seems to be a dead link from TWOP, so I’m not sure if there’s anything that can be done about that: http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show/bunheads/for-fanny-1/

  5. Please ignore my last comment. I got it to work after refreshing (even the seemingly dead page!). Thanks so much for providing this valuable tool! It’s been wonderful to use for saving reviews before the site goes black.

  6. Thanks for making this available. But we’re killing it.
“Resource Limit Is Reached” error messages pretty much continuously now.

  7. Yeah, it’s a shame. This tool was the best bet for preserving some of the writing, but it can’t handle the demand.

  8. UPDATE: performance much improved with some code tweaks, and in touch with the host to see what else we can do – thanks for using!

  9. If you’re still looking for feedback, over the last 1/2 hour or so, the error messages have decreased, but the overall speed has greatly decreased. It’s now taking a couple of minutes for a page to load.

  10. I wish the page had the author and the show/season/ep number listings (So, like, The West Wing 03×02, recap by Deborah), but other than that I love this and will be using a lot. You probably know this, but you’re going to continue to get hammered, as you’ve been linked in the “So long, farewell” topic on the TWOP board!

  11. My pleasure – it was something that started off an an experiment for myself years ago, and took on an entirely different purpose. Regardless, it isn’t going anywhere and please 1-page-ify at will!
